CLASSES AT WEST END - Monday nights (every week except public holidays)
Timetable: Bollywood Beginners 5.30 - 6.30pm

Cost: One class $8; Two classes $12; Three classes $15 (classes must be taken on the same night)
Our 'just turn up' policy: No need to book or enrol, no need to phone ahead, just come along when you're ready to start. New choreography is taught every week so you can start any time - even if you've NEVER danced before! There's always room for you and your friends in these classes and they're on EVERY WEEK so just turn up. Don't be scared, we'll look after you.
INTERMEDIATE CLASSES AT FORTITUDE VALLEY - Wednesday nights (no class on Ekka public holiday) New classes from July 2012!

Venue: St Paul's Presbyterian Church Hall - 43 St Paul's Terrace, Spring Hill (please note: no parking on site. Street parking available nearby)
Cost: $8 per class or $12 for both classes on the same night.

Who: Our classes are for anyone who wants to dance and enjoy themselves!
Age: Recommended age for kids classes: 4 - 13 years
Recommended age for teens: 12 - 17 years (some dance experience required)
Recommended age for all other classes: 14 - adults of all agesDescription of dance styles:Bollywood:A fun and entertaining style of Indian musical and funk fusion dance as seen in Bollywood movies. The intensity is similar to walking at an easy pace. You may experience some light sweating and increased heart rate. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Class includes stretching, routine and cool down.
Hip Hop:A modern and popular style of dance similar to that seen on music videos. The intensity is similar to doing a low impact aerobic class. Be prepared to sweat moderately. Class includes warm up, stretching, toning, routine and cool down. *PLEASE NOTE: Music used in Hip Hop classes contains occiaional course language that may not be suitable for children
Enrolment: There's no need to book or enrol so just turn up! We teach new choreography in every class, so you can start any time. These classes are casual, meaning you don't need to sign up for a course. On your first night come at least 5 mins early so we can register you.

Philosophy: the classes emphasise fun and fitness in a social and community atmosphere. There's no uniform, no sign up fee and no commitment required to join in the fun. So come along and have a go.

Bollyfunk Teachers
Instructor: Rachael Jacobs
Rachael Jacobs has been teaching dance in Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane for over nine years. As a performing arts teacher she is passionate about dance education and takes every opportunity to make her classes interactive and enjoyable. Rachael is a trained high school teacher, and she has taught Dance, Drama and Music in a number of secondary schools and colleges. She is currently working as lecturer in Creative Arts Education at the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane. Rachael is heavily interested in arts research, particularly in the area of arts assessment and is currently doing a PhD thesis on performance assessment. Rachael is a member of Ausdance and an active member of many arts education networks and arts teachers' associations.
Andrea Lam (Drea, for short) is a Brisbane-based dancer, dance educator, musician and multi-arts promoter. She is interested in inclusive, fun-filled learning environments propelled by positive affirmation and encouragement. She has taught dance at a number of schools and community groups around Brisbane, recently including: Kelvin Grove State College Primary School, Capalaba State High and St Andrew's Church Youth Group, South Brisbane. She is currently teaching Bollywood at Brigidine College, Indooroopilly. She holds a Blue Card, is a Community Coach and loves working with children and young adults.
Emily Grinsted
Emily is a trained ballet, contemporary, jazz and hip hop dancer who specialises in lyrical skills. She has performed in stage shows and corporate functions for over 10 years. Emily has recently discovered a love of Bollywood dancing and is now an accomplished Bollywood performer. Her classes are fun, exciting and her choreography is highly creative. She also applies her creativity to her other profession, which is floristry.
